What I love about this scripture is that While Nathaniel was most likely meditating and reflecting on himself, Jesus saw him. How great is it to be going through so much in life and then to have the Son of Man say he saw you even when he was not feeling his best, maybe even thinking on what has become of his life. Maybe even he hearts desires that seem like they will never come to pass. When Jesus saw Nathaniel under the fig tree, He's saying he saw his heart, and his chartacter. The kind of person he really was. He saw his potential, to be shaped and molded into the image of Jesus Christ. Even when you are dealing with much or few God sees everything about you. He want to give you your hearts desire. He sees your desires, your innermost thoughts. God will manifest his presence in your life if you just give yourself away to him. Give him everything you own, hold on to nothing. God Manifested himself that day to Nathaniel by letting him know he saw him. When he told him this Nathaniel said You are the Son of God. Meditate on God and let him Manifest his presence to you. You need his presence in everyday life. You need him to accomplish those dreams and plans you have, and only he can do it. Only his Presence in your life can make you successful! While you are under your fig tree, show God your heart. You don't have to be tough, or be too strong, just be real with your father. It is where the Figs were that he found Nathaniel and Nathaniel wasforever changed for the better. He found purpose and reason for living. God's Manifested Power showed there. When I am praying and spending time with God, just thinking about where I want to go and the person I want to be, I always think of this scripture. Even when I am going through tough times I think of this and I hear Jesus saying "I see you, I know who you are, and I am going to deliver you, save you. and give you the desires of your heart".
The following day Jesus wanted to go to Galilee, and He found Philip and said to him, “Follow Me.” 44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
46 And Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?”
Philip said to him, “Come and see.”
47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!”
48 Nathanael said to Him, “How do You know me?”
Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”
49 Nathanael answered and said to Him, “Rabbi, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!”
