Reaching Greatness is Exercising Patience

It is often heard that you should never pray for Patience.  That reason it is that God will always give you something difficult to exercise patience.   Well I don’t think that is a bad thing.  We can never learn patience unless we get to practice it.   I really want everyone to understand patience because in greatness there is much patience needed.  Think of you that want to own your own business and want it to grow.  It does not become the success you dream it to be in a week a year or even two years.  It takes time to develop and to mature.  To get all the fruits of your labor it takes time, it takes patience.    Patience does this for us.  It helps us to make sure we can handle any obstacle we may have.   God himself displayed patience in the Garden. When he knew what Adam and Eve had done he was hurt by what they did, and angry but he was patient enough and caring enough to make new coverings for them.  I have a visual that as he was making new covering for the two people he created that had disobeyed him was speaking patient words to them and encourage them to move forward from this.      So in order for us to know how to be patient and why let’s see if from the side of our creator:

God’s Patience

Numbers 14:18 (KJV) ‘The LORD is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation.’

Psalm 86:15 (KJV) But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, long suffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.

Nahum 1:3 The LORD is slow to anger and great in power, and the LORD will by no means clear the guilty. His way is in whirlwind and storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.

Romans 2:3-4 Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God? Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

God’s patience made a way for us to have everlasting life.  He is patient with our sin and patient waiting for us to draw close to him.  When we think of how he displays his patience we should do the same.  Everyone one you work with or have to have business interaction with will not be the most easy to deal with,  to get where you are trying to go difficulty will makes its way toward you.  Not everyone will have a easy going spirit.  In fact you will at times deal with snooty, arrogant, and prideful people but if we can get down in our own spirits the way we are to be and the patience we are to display, God will surely open up those doors so that we can get what we need.  We do not always have to have our bosses, and coworkers, and business partners agree with us or are willing to give us what we need but when we seek God and his Patience he will always come through for us.   We do not need the approval of man but God does need our obedience in be patient with one another and with the law of seed time and harvest.  There is always a time to plant wait PATIENTLY , watch it grow, watch God do his work and then there is a time pluck out what you have planted and enjoy what you waited patiently for.

Waiting with Patience is something you must exercise

Luke 8:15 “… As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience.” (Jesus speaking in the parable of the sower)

Romans 2:6-7 He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality; he will give eternal life…

Romans 8:24-25 for in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

1 Timothy 1:16 But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.

Hebrews 6:11-12 and we desire each one of you to show the same earnestness to have the full assurance of hope until the end, so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises

Patience is Key; you can’t achieve greatness without being patience for everything that must come your way to achieve it.  It is not always easy, your Heavenly Father is Patient with you and you must be with his plans and his way of doing things.  He knows best and what is best for you.
