Double for Your Trouble

And the Lord restored Job’s losses[a] when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.

If you have not read the st ory of Job please do.  This may in his day was one of the most righteous men living but yet he still endured hardships.  While this message can be taught on different subjects alone. We are going to focus on how God can and will restore back what the enemy means for your harm if you just trust God.  Sometimes we do not understand why we go through things.  Even right now today some of you may still be haunted and effected by something that happened to you.  Not really understanding why it happend to you.  The truth of the matter is, is that we will never understand everything.  We live in a fallen world and we have an enemy that delights in bringing on trouble and conflict but we have to know who God really is.  It is great to know of him and to be able to talk about him, but there is a difference in really knowing him.  Do you really know him?  The answer is if you really know him, you don't need to understand why it happened or why it is happening just kow that God is God and he is able to turn evey evil thing the enemy tries to plot against you around for your good and give you back double for your trouble.

After all Job went through all his possessions taken away, his children, all that was of worth to him was gone.  But he knew God.  In the midst of all his great trouble he knew God was able.  If you just trust God believe in his promises he will make your path straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

As I think back on what I went through as a child I could ask why me, why did I have to act like an adult when I was a kid and take care of my brothers.  Why did I not have enough food to eat when I was a kid.  So many other things that I had to endure as a child and not fully know what was going on but Look what it did for me.  I am a great mother, a wife, a Bible Teacher, a Minister and I love God inspite of what I went through.  Sometimes these sort of things can make us stray away from God because we do not understand but should bring us so much closer because we went through it and made it!  He was with you!  Even when you did not know it he was there!  He was with Job and he is with you and he will give you double for your trouble!  You can make it through the rain!

Lots of Love,

The Fruit You are Producing

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?  Matthew 7:15-16

I wanted to talk about this scripture for a moment.  Jesus was always warning the disciples about everything they would need to know in their life.  He wanted them to be equipped.  He wanted them to always be aware of their surroundings and not to believe everything they saw or heard.  He said that the only way to really know who these people are is by their fruits.  That is what they do, how they act, and what are they producing in their life.

I would like to turn this into a self evaluation, Even though the bible is telling us to beware, we also have to beware of how we are acting and how people see us.  I would like to use myself as an example today.  As a christian woman and Minister I have to make sure my daily talk, and activities line up with who I say I am.  I got to spend a few years just studying the word of God as a new christian and did not work, I was a stay at home mom.  After a few years of staying at home I finally went back to work and found it hard to put into practice at work what I had been studying at home.  You could not see where christian and non christian was.  I still participated in certain conversations, did certain things, and If I tried, I would not have lost my witness because of my fruit.  It was not consistent with what I confessed.  Now as I have been going at this for awhile and have had time to grow and learn, people know me by my fruit and can tell that I am a true believer and follower of Christ, but they all love me, I have fun with them in certain activities.  Even though they may not believe in what I believe at the moment but they know who I am by my fruit.  I never do anything intentional that will cause me to loose my witness.  They know what to include me in and what not to.

My purpose for this message today is for us o make sure that we are not only being aware of knowing others by their fruit but making sure we are being known by our fruit and that the fruit that we are producing is lining up with our confession. That is Jesus Christ!  I can be who I am to friends and Co workers with a fear of Christ.  I can be loved and be cool and great to hang out with even though I am a woman of God.  People that are not believers can say I don't believe in that but she is consistent with what she believes.  They can say that she is truly living what that bible says and she loves to do pranks, and sing Malt Shop Memories Songs ( which I love)!  I can ready in books clubs, and share books that I have read or want to read and get excited about titles that are great, as long as I am honoring God.  I have had women say ooh I am reading this books but I know you wont read it because of the language but I did read this one and thought it was great also without all the language.  It is all about the fruit you are producing and what you want to be known by.  I do not want to loose my witness and I want the fruit I produce to have Jesus all over it.  As this scripture ask us to beware of false prophets we also much make sure we are not becoming one.  Make sure your confession and fruit is a perfect match!

Your Focus; Your Eyes

My eyes are ever towards the lord, for he shall pluck my feet out from the net.
Psalm 25:15

Have you ever felt entangled where you were just only focused on the the situation you were in and not focused really on what you need to do to get out? Your thinking only on what is going to happen now that this is going on all those thoughts are negative . But the Bible tells us that if our eyes are ever towards him, he will pluck our feet out of the net. God can take away ever fear if we let him. He does not mind helping if we just keep our eyes on him. Just thoughts of him can take away worry and fears. I know it can! When worry tries to fill my mind and heart I just fill my mouth with his word and I speak it, so that it goes down in my heart. When I speak what thus said the lord, I am now totally fixed on him. I am now exchanging worry and fear with his truths. Today what will you do the next time your in the net?

Get Reappointed!!!

We are hedged in (pressed) on every side [troubled and oppressed in every way], but not cramped or crushed; we suffer embarrassments and are perplexed and unable to find a way out, but not driven to despair;

9 We are pursued (persecuted and hard driven), but not deserted [to stand alone]; we are struck down to the ground, but never struck out and destroyed;  2 Corinthians4:8-9

It is so amazing that no matter how many disappointments or goals unreached we can always adapt, adjust and take a new approach to just keep going despite our feelings.  Sure these things can cause us to become disappointed but remember that the greater one lives on the inside of you!  He is residing on the inside of us so that no matter what may happen to frustrate us, or how long it may take for our dreams and goals to become a reality, we are NOT GOING TO GIVE UP OR QUIT do you hear me we are not going to give up or quit!  “When you get disappointed you can always make the decision to get reappointed”!  The Creative most Awesome Holy Spirit can help us gain a new vision, a new direction, and a new goal to help us overcome the downward pull of disappointment, discouragement, and destruction.

Reflection...Are you being selfish?

When studying I came across the book of Jonah.  I had read the book of Jonah numerous times and who could not remember the story about a man being swallowed by a fish.  But when I read this book It gave new meaning to me.  I learned about being selfish and trying to run away from what God wants you to do.  Since God has given me a gift to teach, each time I am studying God is always teaching me so that when I get it and receive it for myself I can then teach others.  So the Selfish part of this story stood out today and God wanted to me to teach on this.

We know the Story of Jonah, He tried to run when God wanted him to go Nineveh  to help the people get out of their mess.  He almost caused a boat full of men and their families to be destroyed because of his selfishness.  Once they found out who the cause of this great storm was he was thrown off the boat into the sea where he was swallowed up by a large fish.  Although God caused the winds and the fish to swallow up Jonah, it was because he was running.  Finally Jonah came to his senses and prayed for deliverance.  God heard his prayers and he was returned back to dry land and when God asked him again to go to Nineveh he went.  Jonah preached there and the people turned from their ways and The God of all creation became their God.  But in all this Jonah felt that they did not deserve God's Grace, Mercy, and Compassion.  What should have been a happy time for Jonah being a man of God was selfishness.

Yes these people disregarded God and his ways but they repented of their sins and turned to God.  Jonah was just being selfish thinking he and only his people deserved God's grace and Mercy.  He was so selfish that he wanted to Die.  He said that is is better for me to die than to live because God was so full of Grace and Mercy on others.    Even in all his selfishness and Complaining God covered him.  Jonah sat outside the city and made a shelter just to not be around these people.  God showed Mercy on him even when he was being ridiculous and planted a plant by him that sprouted up to be shade for him to deliver him from his misery.  Jonah 4:5-6.  Even in this Jonah still found somethings to be wrong and this book ends with Jonah being the same and unchanged with his selfishness.

The reason I decided to share and go into details about this books because when I read it, I laughed out loud.  Why?  Because it was so stupid and foolish of Jonah to despised the mistakes of others that he did not want then forgiven even when they acknowledged their wrong and turned from it.  He pouted and acted like a baby.

Now my question today is  As a believer we are to be forgiving as Christ forgave us, we are to love our neighbors as ourselves, we are to care about the souls of others ,but how many times that people have made mistakes, and may have made them more than once we don't treat them as we should?  We don't forgive them like God forgave us or our many sins?  We think their sins are greater than ours.  We pray and believe that people get saved, and come to repentance, but when they do and they are getting the attention and nourishment they need, deep inside we feel a little Jealous.  We have to remember how God shown his grace and mercy on us.  Don't think only of yourselves and only of what you want God to do for you.
I like to use an example from my own life.  When I started eating healthy almost 2 years ago, I was buy healthy foods and drinks, really researching how to be healthy. One day God spoke to me and said don't forget the kids.  He said that to me because I was so focused on getting myself healthy so that I can be healthy and fit while doing the work of God, I forgot about the kids and making sure they were eating just as good as me. I was being selfish unintentionally but it was a form of it and God wanted me to be aware of it.  So in your lives whether it is family members that keep going back and forth, in and out of the faith, continue to show them grace and mercy as God shown you.  If your Husband or wife continue to make the same mistakes continue to have the same grace and mercy.  Are you sharing what you know about God?  The Good News?   As a believer never be to selfish and your own thoughts and ways to not rejoice in deliverance.  Remember he delivered you!  Don't think you are the only one to deserve God's grace and mercy.  Continue to pray for their deliverance and never run away from an opportunity to help someone one get better.

Please read the entire book of Jonah.
