Seeking God Early
Have you ever just wanted to take a long, long walk talking to God. Seeking Him for what your desires are. Just to talk with him and tell him how you feel, what is going on in your life. A long road to redemption. A road to healing, a road to deliverance. Just you, the early Morning sun, the dew, the smell of trees, and the sound of the birds. The sound of life that God gives to every living thing. When the wind blows and trees move back and forth, they are praising God. Their Creator. Psalm 63 says, O God, you are my God; Early will I seek you; My soul thirsts for you; My flesh longs for you in a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water. So I have looked for you in the sanctuary, To see your power and your glory. Because your loving kindness is better than life, My lips shall praise you. Thus I will bless you while I live; I will lift up my hands in your name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise you with joyful lips. When I remember you on my bed, I meditate on you in the night watches. Because you have been my help, Therefore in the shadow of your wings I will rejoice. My soul follows close behind you; Your right hand upholds me. Psalm 63:1-8
At times I just want to go on a long walk and meditate on God. Have you tried while exercising talking to God other than listening to your IPod? When you are doing your early morning power walks have you every told him what you are feeling? Your hopes, dreams, desires, what they may be? When you have to get up in the morning, have you tried waking up 15-20 minutes earlier so that you can spend time with God. To allow him to minister to you before your busy day starts. I am not telling you anything I have not done. It is a great way to give God the early part of your day. In the King James Version of Psalm 42 says:
As the deer pants for the water brooks,
So pants my soul for You, O God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God?
When a deer is thirsty and is panting, he gives every intake of breath for the water. We should Pant after God this way. Not panting Just when things are looking bad, rather all the time when just because he deserves it. What is your heart panting after? Is is God and your relationship with him? Are your daily activities keeping you from truly seeking God? Just because you are busy does not mean that it is productive. If you get 50 things done in one day and did not have time to spend with God , then that day was useless. Better is one day in his courts than a thousand elsewhere. If you can't spend anytime of your day with God and you did 20 other things unrelated to God then that day had no significant meaning. This also can mean religious work. Just because we are busy with Church and Church events, and outreach things, it does not replace that personal intimate time that you should be spending with him. Make a decision today that you will at least spend 15min in the morning and 15 minutes in the evening with God. That is the very least you could give him at first. The more you do this, the more consistent you are with this time, you will desire for more because you will see what God will be doing with this time.
God Bless each and every one of you!
