The Heart of The Matter

This morning I will like to talk to you about the heart of the matter.  What am I speaking of when I say the heart of the matter?  Today there are some many religions and different doctrines that are around but I would like to express what I believe and what the bible has to say.  I have ran into people who believe they have to be in church 7 days a week in order to have a relationship with God.  I have also come to know some who believe that have to do religious events in order for God to approve of them.  Being a person that I study religions a lot to see what people believe they need to do to know God, I have found that they are all complicated.  It is draining, it is frustrating, and they are all out of tune with the bible.  I am not here today to expose or every false teaching according to the bible but rather encourage those who have made a habit out of doing "stuff"  because they believe those things are making God happy.  Also for those who are searching because they are tired of being tired in their religion.  Some religions pray nine times a day because they are so afraid of God.  I believe there is something wrong with that picture.  Some are always at church and never home with their families because they believe if they are not always at the church then they are not pleasing God.  There is good news this morning there is a simple answer to those questions you may be asking yourself inside about is all these thing necessary.

Please go with me to John 10:10 states that Jesus said that he came that we may have life and life more abundantly.  And by him coming to give us life and life more abundantly this is the one things that we have to do in order to receive this abundant life.  That is in John 10:8-10 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

This is the heart of the matter.  All we have to do is do what John 10: 9-10 says!  It is just that simple.

Now I know some are wondering what about works?  Some only feel they are saved because of works! Why because of the scripture James 2:26 Faith without works is dead.  This is an attempt to demonstrate that works are part of becoming saved.  While is is true that faith without works is dead, it isn't the works that saves us.  James is saying that if you have real and true faith, it will result in real true works of Christianity.  Like have a desire to see the poor and needy helped and have helped toward that, having the desire to go out and evangelize to the lost, give toward mission and ministries that do these sort of things, being a blessing to your church home by helping clean, etc.  These things don't make you saved because the word of God has already told us what we need to do to become saved in Romans 10:9-10.  In other words you do good good works because you are saved, not to get saved.  I hope I am helping someone today.  He isn't saying that our works are what saves us or that they, are in combination with the finished work of Christ.  Jesus told us that he came that we may have life and have it more abundantly.  And when he went to the cross before he took his last breath he said it is finished.  What he came to do which was save us was finished.

Once I got the truth about this word and that works are not what makes me saved I was so relieved because when I was doing the work it did not feel as good as it does not because I was doing it in order to obtain something that has already been freely given to me. please read 1 Corinthians 2:12.   In Romans 5:1 states "Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.  This faith is real faith, or true saving faith, not just an empty acknowledgement of God's existence, example you acknowledge God exist but non of your actions truly show that you have anything to do with him.  So this is where you want to have a meeting with yourself and examine how great is your faith and do you really have any at all.  I want to give an example of works because you are a saved and not works to become saved.

Friday Morning I was driving to the store me and my youngest daughter.  On my way driving I passed the Church I attend on Wednesday's for bible study.  While passing there I saw a bunch of newspaper that someone let loose and it was flying all over the grass of the church.  It was so much of it that I knew that I had to do something.  I knew that I have a love for the person that this building belongs to and that someone may be in need and see this church and I wanted it to look like a church.  On my way coming back from the store me and my 4 year old daughter stopped and picked up all the newspaper and got rid of it.  Now I did not do this because I felt like this will get me into heaven or this will make me saved or more saved, rather I did it because I have Jesus living on the inside of me it moved me to do a good work.  Not once did I perform this act to gain salvation.  I am already saved because I have confess Jesus and Lord, as the Son of God.

This is where we need to get to the point of doing acts of kindness and doing good works or deeds because of who it is that is already living on the inside of us.  Once we get this we will enjoy doing good works, the burden will be light, why?  Because we have them in their correct places.  I enjoy Ministering to the elderly at the nursing home, I enjoy providing teachings and devotions to this online ministry, I enjoy feeding the needy, I enjoy praying for the nursing home residents and the works, praying for you all here on Beautiful Awakening Ministry why, because I know that this the evidence that I am saved, not a way to get saved. I know that my confessing Christ has made me saved but I am now operating in his likeness, I am producing fruit!

Father In the name Jesus I thank you that you have opened my eyes to the truth of your word concerning faith and works.  I thank you that salvation is a free gift that you have given me.  I thank you that works are not what makes me saved but my trust and faith in your precious Son.  I ask that you renew my mind concerning faith and works, help me to put them in their proper place and help me to understand fully what it means to be saved.  Help me to not add or take away for your word and that I become a woman who enjoy serving you and doing works because I know what it truly means.  I pray all this is your Precious Son Jesus Christ name Amen!

God Bless,
